Artist Bio
Lance Kerr
Born in Westport, New Zealand 1975.
Kerr received a Diploma in Visual Communication Design from Ara Institute Christchurch.
He Has exhibited widely throughout NewZealand since 1999.
In 2009 was selected in ‘Preview 09’ a group show of emerging South Island artists,curated by Dr Warren Feeney. The exhibition was shown at ‘Coca’ gallery Christchurch before traveling to Dunedin and Auckland.
In 2022 he took part in his first international group show in Bologna Italy, which was curated by Paola Trevisan.
A trip to Japan in 2019 had a profound and lasting impact on his creative process. The influence of Japanese culture has been with him since childhood, where he represented New Zealand with the junior judo team in 1989.
Now a qualified ‘Qi gong’ instructor. He is currently based in the remote town of Westport,where he has a passion for philosophical research, drinking coffee and listening to the music of Dhafer Youssef.
